Irina Rîngaci returns home with her silver medal from the World Championship

At the airport, the athlete was welcomed with flowers, applause, heartfelt emotion, and congratulations. This achievement once again confirms that Irina ranks among the world's best wrestlers. Irina Rîngaci won the silver medal at the World Wrestling Championships held in Astana. The athlete from the Republic of Moldova reached the final in the under-65-kilogram weight category, where she competed for the world title.
"I am glad I managed to win this medal. It comes after a very difficult period in my life. I made a comeback, and as you can see, this is the result. It was very tough, but I stayed fully focused in every bout and reached the final. In the final, it was my mistake—I couldn't control those last few seconds, and that’s how I lost," stated Irina Rîngaci.
For Irina Rîngaci, the medal in Astana marks her fourth podium finish at the senior World Wrestling Championships. This time, she reached the podium for the first time. Over the past five years, Irina has become a world champion and has also won three bronze medals.
"I’m holding my ground, so to speak. Although I always aim for the top step of the podium, I’m also content with what I’ve achieved," Irina added.
Irina Rîngaci is not the only athlete from the Republic of Moldova to reach the podium at this year's World Championships. During the competition's opening days in Astana, the Greco-Roman wrestlers also delivered remarkable performances. Alexandrin Guțu won silver in the under-77 kg category, while Mihai Bradu secured bronze in the under-82 kg category.
