AND launches a digital platform for reporting snow-covered road operations

Snow-clearing and anti-icing operations on national roads will be monitored and reported in real time through a new digital platform launched by the National Road Administration (AND). The system was presented on November 2 during a training session for road maintenance crews.
The AND Operational Service will operate 24/7 starting November 16, and the territorial units of the "Drumuri" companies will use the platform to report completed work in real time.
The application will centralize information and enable more efficient management of field operations. Through it, operators will submit data regarding the machinery and personnel deployed, road conditions, and the specific road sections where interventions have been carried out.

During the training, road maintenance crews tested the platform and emphasized the importance of prioritizing interventions based on road conditions, weather, and traffic intensity. According to the AND, these measures will enable faster mobilization of teams and more efficient responses in challenging situations.
“The AND’s priority is to keep roads passable during the winter and to reduce risks for road users. In this regard, the new digital platform will facilitate the monitoring of field operations, ensure clear documentation of the work performed, and allow for efficient coordination across the entire national public road network,” the institution stated in a press release.

During the 2025–2026 cold season, over 45,000 tons of industrial salt were spread on national public roads to combat ice and slippery conditions—nearly 29,000 tons more than in the previous season, when weather conditions were milder.

We remind you that, starting November 1, drivers are required to keep their low-beam headlights or daytime running lights switched on, even during the day. This rule applies to all public roads—both within and outside of built-up areas—and will remain in effect until March 31, 2027.
This measure is implemented during the cold season, when days are shorter and conditions such as fog, rain, or snow can reduce visibility. It makes vehicles more visible to other road users and reduces the risk of traffic accidents.
