US and UK scholarships open to Moldovan high school students

Published

Moldovan high school students can apply for scholarships to study at private schools in the United States and the United Kingdom, with applications due by December 1, 2026.

Two international scholarship programmes available

The ASSIST programme is open to students in grades 9–12 and offers opportunities to study at private high schools in the United States. Depending on the scholarship, placements can last between one and three years.

Available scholarships include Sanderson, Lindfors, Davis and Kemper, each with specific eligibility requirements and benefits.

Students selected for the programme can take part in extracurricular activities, explore new academic interests and become part of an international educational community.

The HMC Projects programme targets students in Grade 10 and offers a two-year placement at a private school in the United Kingdom, allowing them to complete their secondary education.

Depending on the school and their academic pathway, students can follow programmes such as the International Baccalaureate (IB), A-levels or other British qualifications.

HMC Projects scholarships can cover tuition fees in full or provide reduced tuition, requiring families to contribute towards the remaining costs.

How to apply

The selection process includes several stages, such as an English-language assessment, an essay and an interview, depending on the programme's requirements.

Interested students must check the eligibility criteria and submit their online applications by December 1, 2026.

Further information about ASSIST is available on the ISCEO website, while details about HMC Projects can be found on the programme's dedicated page.

Free information webinar scheduled for November 11

To explain the application process, eligibility requirements and financial arrangements, the International Study Centre for Educational Opportunities (ISCEO), which coordinates the programmes in Moldova, will hold an online information webinar.

The event is scheduled for November 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. (local time) on Microsoft Teams. Participation is free, subject to prior registration.

Organisers will present the available scholarships, competition stages, required documents, assessments and interviews, as well as the expenses families may be expected to cover.

Participants will also be able to ask programme representatives questions and hear about the experiences of scholarship recipients, graduates and their parents.

Registration is available through the online form.

More than 300 Moldovan students have benefited from the programmes

ASSIST and HMC Projects have worked with private schools in the United States and the United Kingdom for several decades.

The first student from the Republic of Moldova joined ASSIST in the 2000–2001 academic year, while the first HMC Projects scholarship recipient travelled to the United Kingdom in 1994–1995.

According to the organisers, 99 Moldovan students have graduated from the ASSIST programme, while another 212 have benefited from HMC Projects opportunities.

Former scholarship recipients say studying abroad has given them access to diverse academic and extracurricular activities, as well as new opportunities for pursuing higher education.

Livia G., an HMC Projects scholarship recipient from 2023 to 2025, studied the International Baccalaureate programme in England. She is currently studying at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden.

“I greatly appreciate my experience in England and would not trade it for anything! The opportunity to study an international programme fundamentally changed my outlook and the way I think, helping me embrace new ideas shaping the modern world,” said Livia G.
