Moldelectrica confirms full energy supply and encourages responsible use

The National Power System ensures operational stability and maintains the energy balance needed to fully meet electricity consumption in the Republic of Moldova. The electricity transmission system operator, Moldelectrica, provides further details.
The company had to request emergency assistance from Romania following the Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on December 6. Consumers were advised to use energy wisely to avoid disconnections.
Moldelectrica stated that the supply of electricity to the Republic of Moldova is managed according to the suppliers' forecasts and the system operator's operational planning, ensuring that the volume required to meet domestic consumption is fully covered.
To maintain the stable operation of the electricity system, consumers are still encouraged to optimize their usage, particularly during peak load periods. This helps alleviate network pressure and ensures the efficient operation of the national electricity infrastructure.
On December 6, the Republic of Moldova sought energy aid from Romania after a major energy group in Ukraine was disconnected due to significant attacks on the electricity infrastructure.
According to Moldelectrica, the interconnection lines were approaching full capacity, and to prevent overloads, the operator requested “emergency assistance” from Romania for a few hours.
The electricity was supplied via the 400 kV Isaccea–Vulcănești line under an existing agreement between Transelectrica and Moldelectrica on trade and interconnection capacities.
Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu stated live on Moldova 1 TV that “the amounts of electricity taken from Romania, from the Romanian national electricity system, were approximately 100–150 MW per hour.”
