The head of state, Maia Sandu, invited her American counterpart to the Republic of Moldova
Head of State Maia Sandu invited US President Joe Biden to the Republic of Moldova. The invitation was issued during a discussion with the White House leader in Warsaw, where Biden gave a historic speech marking one year since the start of Russia's war against Ukraine.

The two heads of state also discussed the consequences of the war on the Republic of Moldova and the efforts of the Moldovan authorities to maintain peace and public order in the country. The leader from Chisinau also emphasized that our country needs the support of the US to strengthen its economic resilience. "We are grateful to the American people and for the help provided by the US Government over the past year to overcome the energy crisis. This allowed us to offer compensation to low-income citizens to better cope with the increased prices of energy resources. We continue to count on the support of the US government in our effort to diversify energy sources and strengthen energy security. Our American friends have been with us since the first years of Independence, and we are glad to know that they are still with Moldova even now, in these complicated times", specified Maia Sandu. We remind you that US President Joe Biden was in the Republic of Moldova in 2011, but at that time he was the US Vice President during Barack Obama's first term as president. The official had been invited by the former prime minister of that period, Vlad Filat. Joe Biden delivered a speech in the square of the National Theater of Opera and Ballet, urging the government to fight corruption and reform the judiciary, and assured that the US would support Moldova in resolving the Transnistrian conflict. Joe Biden was in Chisinau for a day with his wife Jill and granddaughter Finnegan. Joe Biden had a similar message yesterday during the meeting in Warsaw with Maia Sandu. The White House leader reaffirmed the firm support of the United States for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. He emphasized the role of continued American assistance in supporting the Republic of Moldova's efforts to strengthen its political and economic resilience, including regarding the agenda of democratic reforms and energy security, as well as remedying the effects of Russia's war against Ukraine. Moreover, during the speech held in Warsaw, Joe Biden also addressed President Maia Sandu, asking the audience to applaud for her. "We want the people of Moldova to live in freedom. The determination of the Moldovan people to live in freedom, when gaining independence led them to join the European Union. President Maia Sandu is here today, I am proud to be with you and the freedom-loving people of Moldova. Please give her a round of applause," Joe Biden said in a speech at the Royal Castle in the Polish capital. According to the former Minister of Foreign Affairs from Bucharest, Cristian Diaconescu, quoted by Digi 24, this gesture is a categorical and clear signal for Russia, but also for those who follow a brutal change of leadership in Chisinau.
