Border congestion with Romania: Increased traffic at Leușeni and Sculeni
Heavy traffic is being reported at the Leușeni and Sculeni border crossing points for those leaving the Republic of Moldova on Saturday, October 24. The Customs Service reports more travellers and vehicles and advises drivers to choose other border crossings to avoid congestion.
To reduce wait times, authorities have opened additional lanes and activated the "REVERS" procedure, which allows traffic lanes to be used in the opposite direction, depending on vehicle volume.
Travellers intending to leave the Republic of Moldova for Romania are advised—depending on their planned route—to consider using the Costești, Leova, or Cahul border crossing points.
The Customs Service notes that using alternative routes can help reduce congestion and improve traffic flow at the border.
